As a British Muslim immigrant who fulfils the roles of mother and spouse, I often struggle to balance my responsibilities as a caretaker and homemaker in life's demands. Despite the challenge, I've built a new life for my family from scratch. This journey has been challenging, but my determination to create a home and community motivates me. I've faced various obstacles, issues, emotional ups and downs in parenting, cultural adjustments, job difficulties, childcare, education, and social isolation—issues that have affected my children and me in our new country. Despite numerous blessings, I grappled with feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. Nevertheless, I resolutely pursued self-improvement through therapy, seminars, and volunteering. Overcoming these challenges enabled me to discover my vocation as a certified counsellor. I acquired the ability to transform anger into constructive progress and established clear boundaries, thus empowering myself to decline engagements that proved draining.
